Ice Maker Repair in Lone Tree

A clear-ice maker has more to go wrong than most owners realize: a water path, an inlet valve, a freeze cycle and a harvest sequence. We trace the whole chain and fix the stage that failed.

What We Fix

Ice makers fail quietly. You reach for ice and the bin is empty, or the cubes come out small, cloudy or fused together. We service the full range of faults on refrigerator ice makers and dedicated clear-ice machines:

  • Not making ice, or making far less than it should
  • Cloudy, hollow, small or clumped cubes
  • Water not filling, or overfilling and leaking
  • A harvest cycle that stalls with ice stuck in the mold
  • Leaks from the supply line, valve or drain
  • Failed inlet valves, thermistors, harvest motors and control boards

Common Problems and Typical Causes

When an ice maker stops entirely, we start at the water. A shutoff valve that was bumped closed, a supply line frozen where it runs through a cold wall, or a weak inlet valve will all starve the unit. If water is reaching the mold but no ice arrives, the freeze cycle or the harvest sequence is the suspect: a bad thermistor, a stuck harvest motor or a control fault. Cloudy or hollow cubes usually trace to water quality, pressure or freeze timing. On a dedicated clear-ice machine, mineral scale from hard water is a common culprit and one that regular cleaning prevents.

Quick check first: before you book, confirm the water shutoff to the unit is fully open and the ice-maker switch or arm is in the on position. If those are set correctly and it still will not produce, it is time for a diagnostic.

Symptom, Likely Cause, and What We Do

SymptomLikely CauseOur Fix

Cloudy or hollow cubesWater quality, pressure or scaleCheck supply and filtration, descale, verify the freeze cycle

Hollow, undersized or fused cubes are the classic ice maker complaint, and the assembly is usually innocent. All three of those symptoms mean the mould is not getting the volume of water it expects within the time the cycle allows. The cause sits upstream: a water filter left well past its life and restricting flow, a fill valve throttled by mineral deposits, or a fill tube partially frozen because the water is arriving too slowly to finish. Owners generally conclude the ice maker has failed and want it replaced. We measure the actual fill volume before condemning anything, and more often than not the part is fine and the water path is the problem.

Hard water drives most of the rest. Douglas County water is mineral-rich, and scale forms steadily on the mould and the fill tube of a residential ice maker, and on the evaporator plate and sensing probes of a dedicated machine. Scale insulates, so ice takes longer to form and comes out cloudy and soft, and it confuses the harvest sensing so the machine misjudges when a batch is ready. That failure pattern looks exactly like tired refrigeration and is nothing of the kind. Cleaning and descaling on the manufacturer's schedule, and changing the filter on time, prevents most of these calls outright.

Ice Maker Repair FAQ

Why Did My Ice Maker Suddenly Stop Producing?
The most common causes are a closed or frozen water supply line, a weak or failed inlet valve, or a stalled harvest cycle. We trace the water path and the harvest sequence to find which stage has failed.
Why Is My Ice Cloudy or Hollow?
Cloudy or hollow cubes usually point to water quality, low water pressure or a fault in the freeze and harvest timing. On a clear-ice maker we check the water supply, filtration and the freeze cycle.
Do You Repair Standalone Ice Machines Too?
Yes. We service both refrigerator ice makers and dedicated standalone clear-ice and nugget machines from high-end brands, including Sub-Zero and Scotsman.
